More than 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats aged three years or older suffer from periodontal disease. Since our pets cannot brush their own teeth, they depend on pet owners and skilled veterinary dentists to keep their teeth clean and gums healthy.
Each pet needs an appropriate planned dental program. Your veterinarian will individualize your pet’s needs but generally speaking this includes home care, regular dental care with x-rays and treatment under anesthesia. As an adjunct to this we offer preventative dental cleaning and assessments as a way maintain your pets good oral health between dental treatment under anesthesia.
During the preventative dental cleaning our patient and compassionate approach builds trust with each pet. We slowly introduce instruments and techniques so even the most anxious pets are relaxed and comfortable during treatment. We never force or bully a pet into submission. Everything is done with a loving, compassionate and gentle touch.
Proactive animal dental care is essential to detecting and preventing oral health problems in pets.
To be considered for a preventative dental cleaning your pet needs to have had a current evaluation and recommendation for this procedure by one of our veterinarians.
Preventative dental cleanings are performed one day each month. Please call us for more information about making an appointment (530) 541-4040.
